Afghanistan manager Mohammad Yousef Kargar announced a strong 20 man squad for the SAFF Championships 2011. A mixture of both domestic and abroad players with 8 players coming from abroad and 12 from within Afghanistan. Kargar has kept faith in most of his squad with no real changes to the squad that was last seen against Palestine in the World Cup Qualifier.

Notable exclusions are Abassin Alikhil who recently made his debut not long ago in the AFC Challenge Cup and the World Cup Qualifiers currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt II in Germany and Sidiq Walizada who scored the vital goals against Bhutan in the pre-qualifying game for the AFC Challenge Cup has also been excluded.

Ata Yamrali and Yusef Samy have been recalled after last playing for Afghanistan back in the 2007 against Syria in the World Cup Qualifier 2006. A few new faces in the side too with Sandjar Ahmadi coming from Germany and Arash Hatifie from the USA.
